Makalu Barun trek or Sherpani Col Pass trek is real adventurous trekking. This trek takes us to an adventure of three cols of trekking and mountaineering paradise. Trek of Sherpani col pass takes you to Makalu Base Camp (5250 m). This trek lies inside Makalu Barun National Park and its conservation area. Makalu Barun trek starts with a flight to Tumlingtar and heads up the Arun River valley. After reaching to Sedua and Num, we will cross Shipton La Pass (4210 m). It lies in the upper Barun river valley with a close look at Makalu and Chamlang Himal. The Barun valley is a part of a huge international protected area. On this trek, we follow the same track to get back to Kathmandu.

Today we will visit the cultural heritage sites of Kathmandu. Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, and Bauddhanath. Short briefing about Makalu Barun trek in the evening.
Early morning we take a flight to Tumlingtar and stary our trek to Khandbari. Khandbari which is the district headquarter of Shankhuwasabha
Today trails are easiest as we pass through many small picturesque villages. Bamboo groves and a rhododendron forest cover most of the trail. Chichila is a small village with Gurungs settlements.
Today we will get a glimpse of the White Mountains like Makalu and its surrounding. After reaching the Num we set up camp.
Today we descend in the steep rocky path to Lumbang. While descending you see small terraced farm planted with corn and barley. Then we ascend to Sedua on a tough path.
This day we walk through the large meadows and cross several streams. Finally, we ascend to the Sherpa village of Tashi Gaon. It is the last permanent settlement in the valley.
Today trails are a steep ascent through sparse forests along the ridge. It leads to the hillock point before we descend Kauma at 3,470 m.
A steep climb then through rhododendron forests makes the start fo the day. We enjoy the excellent views of Chamlang (7,290 m) Peak 6 (6,739 m) and Peak 7 (6,105 m).
Today trail is a little bit gully with a stream through rocky trail and sometimes muddy terrain. It leads up to the glacial valley. From here we can have good views of Peak 6. From Nehe Kharka you will have great mountain views.
This day is difficult as we have to walk long hours. We have to climb up for several hours.
Today we head to Makalu Base camp. From the camp, we see the close-up view of Makalu. It is the sixth highest mountain in the world along with its surrounding mountains.
From Makalu Base Camp we follow the trail that passes through Hillary Base Camp. We then walk along a smaller trail on the south side of Barun Glacier Valley and camp at Swiss Base Camp.
The trail from here becomes hard as it climbs towards a steep boulder-filled gully. From there an hour of climbing leads us to Sherpani Col Base Camp at the snout of a glacier.
Before crossing the challenging passes we make sure that our body has acclimatized. So today we take a rest day for acclimatizing.
We make an early start for the crossing of the challenging pass Sherpani Col.
Today, we follow a trail that climbs a loose rocky route reaching the southern end.
This day we enter the Everest region trekking trail. We entered the Imja valley where we set up camp.
This day from the valley we descend down to Tengboche. We pass through the forest of rhododendron and pine. In Tengboche, we visit the Monestry consider to be the highest mountain in the world.
We descend on the steep path to the Dudh Kosi and then climb up to Namche Bazaar.
Finally, we return to Lukla. It is also a place from where Everest Base Camp trek begins or starts.
You will get to see the last glimpse of the mountains on your 35-minute Scenic flight back to Kathmandu.
It’s also a spare day in case of bad weather in Lukla.
